Beta-hydroxy-beta methylbutyrate (HMB) is a metabolite of the branched chain amino acid Leucine. HMB is an anti-catabolic (anabolic) supplement that increases lean body mass, strength and muscle function. When ingested with a protein source, the HMB will work by grabbing hold of the protein and basically escorts it to the muscle cells where it is used for muscle repair. It helps keep the body in a positive nitrogen balance. HMB was classed as an illegal anabolic agent in Australia in the mid 1990’s when it first made an appearance in the market place. How ever, HMB has been proven to be very safe to use and infact, hospitals have been known to use it to help burn victims and anorexic patients in their rehabilitation programs. HMB is now legal in Australia
HMB is widely used by sports people around the world as a safe alternative.Intense training breaks down muscle tissue and muscle rebuilds during the recovery phase over the next few days. It is thought that HMB reduces the amount of muscle breakdown and speeds recovery, the end result is more muscle mass.
HMB has also been shown to promote fat loss, but the mechanism of how it does this is still uncertain. One 4-week study on women showed that those using HMB put on 130% more lean mass and lost 175% more body fat than the group on placebos.
HMB is best taken in 3 equal doses divided over the day with one dose being 2 hours before training. As HMB works by reducing muscle tissue breakdown during intense training, the best time to use HMB is during intense training cycles of 4-6 weeks at a time.

Under 65kg Body Weight - 5 capsules
Under 77kg Body Weight - 6 capsules
Under 90kg Body Weight - 7 capsules
Under 105kg Body Weight - 8 capsules
Under 120kg Body Weight - 9 capsules
